According to this article in The Washington Times seven Democrats are hot on the trail tail of CIA Director Leon Panetta.  The rub seems to be a revisit of Pelosi’s claims that the CIA lied to her and the CIA’s insistence that the lie or lies did not happen. Added to the original complaint are new allegations that the CIA lied or failed to advise the seven complaining Democrats (Pelosi is not visibly in on this one)  and Panetta has to decide whether to do the right thing, i.e, stick to the truth, or cave and therefore guarantee that congress will grant him sufficient resources to run his organization.

I’m thinking that a resolute soul who tells the truth will beat seven dwarfs arrayed around any poker table. While I am no fan of Mr. Panetta, I do respect him for holding off those who would harm the morale and effectiveness of the CIA.

Let’s hope that Panetta stands pat with the hand he has shown and let the dwarfs keep on shuffling the deck. Meanwhile Republicans and decent Democrats are still waiting for House Speaker Pelosi to put up or shut up regarding her first cackle that started all of this. It looks as though she has shut up for now, while her seven gnarly dwarfs, “Hi Ho, Hi Ho.” You know the rest … something about off to work, etc.

As a final note, you’ll need to read all of any story purporting to report on this latest flurry. The gnarly ones are alleging that Panetta admitted that the CIA lied to congress and he has done no such thing. It is just that the gnarled ones have twisted (no pun intended) the facts hoping that the CIA will recant before the intelligence budget hearings. After all, it was one of theirs that was outed as a liar.
