The Edgewood Civitan Club will be hosting a special speaker from the Community Emergency Response Team. Kit Elliot is a registered nurse who will speak Wednesday, August 5th at 6:30 PM in the Edgewood Chamber of Commerce Board Room. Her topic will be: Preparing for the H1N1 Virus and the Upcoming Flu Season.
Kit has responded to many natural disaster calls around our country and is a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Medical Reserve Corps – Community Emergency Response Team.
She will be talking about the upcoming flu season, and specifically she’ll be discussing the H1N1 flu virus (Swine Flu) and what the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta and the New Mexico State Health Department is doing to prepare for it in the way of vaccine preparation and facility availability.
Although it is impossible to predict what form the flu will take this fall, there are some things that can help make us better prepared.
The meeting is open to all Edgewood Chamber of Commerce members and Edgewood Civitan Club members.
This will be an important meeting for you to gather information on behalf of your employees and your family members.
