Big pork chops and large mistakes from our Senator Byrd (D-WV). I guess we could say, “Yes, West Virginia, there is a Santa Byrd.” When it comes to tossing money, there is nothing like packaging money to a non-existent company. We can only hope that Senator Byrd’s mistake doesn’t give rise to folks cooking entities out of the thick air of our “warming” globe.

There’s much more in the report. Both houses and both sides of the ailse should hang their heads … should they have one among the collection of dead bodies.

Let’s just cut to the belly of the beast  and see what else is contained in that little paunch (HOG)

Can It Happen Here — Some Might Hope

Argentina‘s Senate has passed a 164 article bill which was not changed from the original submitted by Argentine President Cristina Fernandez De Kirchner. The bill passed by a vote of 44-24 will severely restrict ownership of communication companies and if it stands up under court challenge or future legislative change, will force some companies to divest themselves of what is likely to be a substantial percentage of their present broadcast, programming and broadband ownership.

The article, cited here from Bloomberg.com, states:

Argentina’s 257-member lower house passed the government- backed initiative on Sept. 17 in a 146-3 vote after opposition lawmakers walked out in protest.

Leaders of the opposition said the bill’s restriction would lead to state media gaining too much sway over the press.

The President has said that the bill will “democratize” communications in Argentina, but some opponents of the bill argue that the bill amounts to “indirect expropriation.”

The complete article can be read here from Bloomberg.com

The question of interest to us (that is U.S.) will be how will the lovers of the “fairness doctrine” and the haters of talk radio (particularly conservative talk radio) sort this information. Will they see it as an example of what they need to silence Limbaugh, et al and an opportunity to prop up their own bloviators or will they leave free media free and let the market place of ideas dictate the fate of communicators and the messages delivered by them.
