Governor Richardson announced a list of stimulus money recipients today. Edgewood is a recipient of a $430,000 grant for  two 50KW wind turbines for municipal electricity generation.

Go here for the information: Edgewood Wind Energy Grant

The next step by Edgewood will likely be to carefully plan for success of the projects. Just for kicks, access the link below.

The image to the left is by way of illustration only and is  not an example of the proposed wind generators for Edgewood. It is, in fact, the wind generator mentioned in the link below.

Congratulation to Edgewood and thanks for the hard work to the original Energy Advisory Committee chaired by Councilman John Abrams.

Pocket power generation may be a stretch, but Toshiba and at least two other Japanese companies are working separately to perfect and market small nuclear generating facilities. Toshiba has started marketing their unit, but was unsuccessful in their first attempt in the Yukon River watershed in Alaska due to their inability to sell the idea to Native Alaskans.

Toshiba’s plant, generates 10,000 kilowatts of electricity a day, while the other two companies (Mitsubishi and Hitachi) tout production of up to 350,000 kilowatts and up to 600,000 kilowatts, respectively.

I would bet that it will be years before the first compact nuclear generating plant is installed in the United States. Here’s the story as posted on Breitbart TV.

Here’s a video that is supposed to represent some of the opposition in Alaska.

According to Wikipedia, Watts Bar Nuclear Generating Facility was the last nuclear generating facility to go online in the United States in 1996.

You remember “Filegate.”  The hullabaloo over the Clinton administration‘s alleged illegal access to individual files of United States Citizens. Judicial Watch has posted information which purports to be alphabetical lists of those files. The suit filed in connection with the case, some 13 years past,  is still active.

Here is the list of names about which the Washington Times originally wrote. Are You On The List

According to Judicial Watch, they are pushing for a summary judgment of the case through the filing of a cross-motion in answer to this administration’s filing for a summary motion for dismissal of the suit. Here is a link to the cross-motion filed this October 19th. Cross-Motion. The cross-motion consists of some 67 pages.

You can see more regarding the filing of the suit and the current administration’s defense against the suit filed by Judicial Watch by clicking here

I suppose some will believe that this is old news and not worthy of additional consideration, but as has been said, “it ain’t over, ’til it’s over.” And, the case disposition and the alleged actions of the Clinton administration can have far reaching ramifications, for the present and the future.

A Small Access Detail — Edgewood Public Library

There is a history of corner-cutting steps that impact on serviceability and accessibility at the Edgewood Public Library. We have previously written (here and here) of the facility being “red-tagged” for possible construction violations (including possible electrical deficiencies). Now it seems the building and library  aren’t compliant with the American Disabilities Act (ADA).

The building does not have ADA compliant entrances or parking  and it does not seem that it is exempt from compliance. At the very least, the ADA requires the library to have compliant access and other amenities which would allow use  by citizens who are entitled to special accommodations.

Thankfully, the Edgewood Town Council at last Wednesday’s council meeting instructed Mayor Stearley to make sure that the building is brought to ADA compliance. Let’s hope that the lessor or the lessor’s agent pays for the modifications and the Mayor does not attempt to have the town pay for upgrades.

Here’s a link to a pamphlet that covers Edgewood’s requirements per ADA compliance

Once again the deficiencies should have been taken care of before the library occupied the space leased by the Town of Edgewood. Has anyone heard of due diligence? It is sort of important to say the least.

Yes, how many times do certain words appear in 1502 page Senate health care bill? I mean words such as taxes, penalty, tax, taxpayer, require and other ominous and forceful sounding words. I can’t place all the words in context, but here’s the answer according to The American Spectator

Now, if you’d like to download the bill or otherwise do your own checking, here’s the link to the Senate Health Care Bill

If you want to access a web site that says they’ll be dissecting and analyzing the bill you can go here (Human Events)
