Panasonic Stores The Juice You Can Use

Panasonic has come out with a storage battery that will interface with solar energy and wind energy on a long-term storage basis. That means that one of the obstacles which makes wind and solar somewhat unreliable may now be conquered.
Since this is New Year’s Eve and I’ve nothing better to do, I thought a little good news to chase the gloom from 2009 might be welcome. Here is the link to story. Enjoy and keep a great attitude and outlook for the future … this too shall pass! No, really!

ManyScotch&Soda — Make That Minnesota
By Chuck Ring (GadaboutBlogalot ©2009)
Quote Freely From The Article – Leave The Pseudonym Alone
Just call it too many scotch and sodas at the University of Minnesota’s Twin-Cities campus. Similar to their Koolaid Kounterparts in Kalifornia, the “Manysotans” seem to have grown quite silly. This article from Biggovernment.com and this article from the Minneapolis – St. Paul Star Tribune lays out a case against some humans being allow to breed.
In short, the tenets expressed in the study referenced in both articles, show why progressives should be contained in one area (preferably Minnesota). If Minnesota isn’t possible as a Progressives abode, let them live under one of the Great Lakes, perhaps one that is infested with leeches. Seriously, the silliness of the recommendations from the university is far worse than any attempted comedic comment I might make. For instance, biggovernment.com in providing information from the report says:
“The report advocates making race, class and gender politics the ‘overarching framework’ for all teaching courses at the university,” Kersten wrote. “It calls for evaluating future teachers in both coursework and practice teaching, based on their willingness to fall into intellectual lockstep.”
The task force recommends that prospective teachers begin by confessing their own bigotry. They would have to prepare a report “describing their own prejudices and stereotypes, questioning their ‘cultural motives’ for wishing to become teachers, and take a ‘cultural intelligence’ assessment designed to ferret out their latent racism, classism and other ‘isms,’” according to the newspaper.
More than anything, “future teachers must. . . recognize and denounce the fundamental injustices at the heart of American society,” the article said.
What about those prospective teachers who refuse to fall into “intellectual lockstep?” After all, there’s bound to be a stubborn conservative or two who think America’s a pretty decent place to live, work and raise a family.
For them, the university “must develop clear steps and procedures. . . including a remediation plan,” the report said.
Then there’s Chris Matthews, who outed himself in this video, and apparently counts Saul Alinsky (it sounds like Matthews says, “Linsky,” rather than Alinsky) as his and Bernie Sanders‘ hero and slashes with his wide slit mouth anyone, but especially Republicans, who would dare to question the wisdom of the Senate health bill. Although not directly related to the articles referenced above, the video does seem to show that Matthews, Sanders and Progressives tend to wear the same clown suits when they disagree with other American citizens.

Oscar: The Lewdless Nude
It happens that ugly, as beauty, is in the “eye of the beholder.” And it has been said that, ” beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes to the bone.” Either way, this naked bird has appeal as a survivor. Oscar is a lady and is treated as such by her current keeper. You can read a story about Oscar in The Sun. She appears comfortable in her femininity … don’t you think?
Don’t forget to watch the video.

Albuquerque: 39th Most Literate Among Cities 250,000 And Over

New Mexico State Seal
By Chuck Ring (GadaboutBlogalot ©2009).
Quote Freely From The Article – Leave The Pseudonym Alone
New Mexico Business Weekly (NMBW) reports that Albuquerque is now 39th in literacy for U.S. cities of 250,000 population or more. This standing is compared to last year’s (2008) ranking of 35th. The article explains that the rankings are arrived at through consideration of several factors:
The annual report by
Central Connecticut State University scored cities of 250,000 people or more against several indicators, including education level, Internet use, newspaper circulation, number of booksellers, library services and local magazines and journals.
According to corrected census data from 2002, there were 126 United States cities over 250,000 population in 2002. There may be more for 2009, but the number will not have risen or declined by any significant amount so that Albuquerque’s standing would be affected. So, can we say that 39th out of 126 isn’t bad? Probably not, when other information pertaining to amount spent per pupil, and other “indicators” are taken into account. Click on the link in the first sentence of this article for the NMBW report and click on this link for the Connecticut data for more clarity.
What can the overall decline in Albuquerque’s ranking be laid to? And should we expect more considering money spent on educational materials, class size, educational facilities and whatever other pertinent areas can legitimately be said to impact favorably on literacy. There are simple theories, but those theories may be what has blinded us to the real answers. Whatever the answers, it looks as though we have not discovered them; or we have not applied them sufficiently.

Can You Do It Better?
- Image via Wikipedia
By Bob Steiner
In our community of Edgewood I am always running into citizens who are quite vocal on a variety of issues. Perhaps the question most often raised: Why can’t the town pave my road? A close second question in winter is: When is the town going to send a snow plow down my lane? In summer this question changes to: When will they put “dust retardant” on the road? Another frequent topic is “property appearance.” People want to know why the town doesn’t force some residents to remove old junk cars and control weeds on their land. It seems a lot of people take sides on issues but only a few really take action. There is a definite tendency to blame the town’s government for all the things that seem to bother them.
With this thought in mind, I often ask those who are commenting how many town council meetings have they attended to voice their feelings or if they have ever considered running for office. When these two points are raised, normally the person who initiated the comments will generally change the subject.
Well today I have some good news for those who may be discontented. To paraphrase a popular military recruiting slogan, the town is looking for a “few good men (or women).” On March 2nd, 2010 the Town will hold an election. While there may other issues on the ballot, two council seats are open to Edgewood town residents. If you’re a “genuine” Edgewood resident (Sorry, those of you who fought the recent annexation attempt don’t qualify!) and would like to put your name on the ballot to run for the council, drop by the town administrative office and register as a candidate. To qualify for the March 2nd election, you must register your intent from 8:00 AM to 5:00 P.M. on January 5th.
Additionally, anyone wishing to file as a candidate, must go to the Santa Fe County Clerk’s Office and request a certified copy of their current affidavit of voter registration. This document must be filed with the declaration of candidacy.
This election gives you the opportunity to take part in change in Edgewood. Do take part!

A drunk United States Senator tries to excoriate Republicans for their lack of support on the so-called health care bill. The man should probably resign his position. Failing that, he should be censored and compelled to seek treatment. Oh, his name? Max Baucus (D-Mont).
We deserve more than people who cannot control their consumption of alcohol or other substances. See for yourself:
I’m really surprised he didn’t “hurl” all over the Senate floor. Hopefully C-SPAN will guard this video and make sure it doesn’t disappear.
Anyone Know: How The Final Health Bill Will Affect Seniors

- Image via Wikipedia
By Chuck Ring (GadaboutBlogalot ©2009).
Quote Freely From The Article – Leave The Pseudonym Alone
The answer to the question is, no one knows because there is no final bill, and there may not be a bill that is close to what Pelosi and Reid suggest out of conference, so, their meeting may not result in a combined bill. Perhaps (here’s hoping) their dreams and schemes will slip from their grasp and they will be relegated to casting more aspersions toward the other side of the aisle, or toward the progressives and other far-left leaning carpers.
There are some who try to make an attempt at answering the questions in the most monumental guessing game the world has ever seen, but however well-meaning they are, it won’t be over until the last reel runs to the end of the film. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, M.D. makes a stab at it as he speaks for CNN, but he doesn’t get there. You can see and hear him on this video from CNN News.
The doctor opens up more questions than he actually answers, but lets see what the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has to say about the cost of Medicare for the future. This is from article from Bloomberg and it reports on how the CBO take Senators and some of their staffers to task on their contentions of savings from Medicare and the methodologies, i.e., formulae used to arrive at various costs, plans and individual coverages. Here’s a final quote from the article:
To credit such projected savings as helping to extend Medicare’s solvency “ignores the burden that would be faced by the rest of the government later in redeeming the bonds held by the trust fund” to pay for future Medicare expenses, the budget office said.
Arguments that the Medicare savings would both extend Medicare’s solvency and help finance “new spending outside of Medicare would essentially double count a large share of those savings,” the CBO said.
Looks like there’s more mystery … than mastery.
