Quote Freely From The Article – Leave The Pseudonym Alone
These are times when we need a song like Willie Nelson’s:
At a time when the world seems to be
Spinning hopelessly out of control
There’s deceivers and believers
And old in betweeners …..
Hands On The Wheel: by Willie Nelson (click the link) Red Headed Stranger Album 1975
Well, maybe we should say, the progressives need a song such as this to help them through the nights of indecision. A moderate Independent, such as Senator Joe Lieberman (I-Conn) rides to the rescue of the Senate health bill after being promised that the public option will disappear from the bill. Then Howard Dean, the wild orator, asks that the bill be dumped in favor of starting over. Then there’s Senator Burris (D-Il) who swears not to vote for the bill if the public option is not included in the bill. The POTUS warns that the United States will suffer bankruptcy if health care costs are not reined in, i.e., the health care bill remains stuck to the floors of the House and Senate.
Add to this mix, a heaping spoon of Democrats, who say they will not vote for the bill for various reasons, and a barrel of Republicans who wouldn’t touch the snake with a ten-foot pole, and the bill, “seems to be spinning hopelessly out of control.” Then Madame Flutterby Pelosi, comes out of her cocoon and announces that she is loaded for campaigning and the bill won’t pass until January 2010.
And, we can’t forget the SEIU rabbit. It hopped out of the hat before its ears could be grabbed.
It is enough to cause us to think of foundering, floundering and flummoxing in one fell “swell” swoop. Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sway.
