Edgewood’s Librarian Peggy Martinez has provided the following information of interest:

PROGRAM 1:

Jim Hammond Book Signing and Interactive Talk

Event Title:  What Wine Really Tastes Like

Where:  Edgewood Community Library

Date & Time:  January 19 at 6:00 pm

New Mexico author Jim Hammond will discuss:

  • The methodology of wine tasting
  • The three acts of a wine’s flavor profile
  • Tuning your wine palate
  • How to choose the best wine for your palate
  • Where to find great wine value

Jim will also read selections from his book on the history of grape growing and winemaking in New Mexico, and wine etiquette.

Copies of his book, “Wines of Enchantment:  A Guide to Finding and Enjoying the Wines of New Mexico” shall be available for purchase at $8.00.

IMPORTANT NOTICE : No alcohol will be present or consumed at this event.  Jim’s aroma sample kit includes pure scents of many popular wines.

Three Sign For Council Positions In Edgewood

The close time for candidates to sign for Edgewood Town Council election was 5:00 PM yesterday (January 5, 2010).  According to the Town Clerk the two incumbents, whose terms are due to expire in March of this year declared their intent to run again along with one other candidate.

If there are no “write-in” candidates  declaring  within the specified time, then Rita-Loy Simmons (incumbent) Glenn Felton (incumbent) and Charles (Chuck) Ring will be the only candidates running for the two spots.  Registration for write-in candidates will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on January 12, 2010.
