Yes, CBS now knows what little media (as opposed to main stream media) congress and the American citizenry has known for more than a few days. The following gives me little pleasure, especially after today’s speech on our intelligence mess, during which the President sounded as “presidential” as he was able under the circumstances.
He sounded somewhat as a President of the United States should sound. Not with words covered with platitudes or baseless excuses, but with what seemed like real acceptance of blame for a failure of U.S. intelligence. This, when he used a phrase made famous by President Harry Truman, i.e., “The buck stops here.” He was referring to the bloomer bomber who was captured in Detroit on Christmas Day, but this story is about a different failure … the use of non-transparency in finalizing a health care bill. We all wish the President success in solving the intelligence problems that should have been resolved some time ago, perhaps some of which can be traced to the previous administration, but the health care problems remain and loom ever larger.
