The terrorist that crossed the Canadian border on the way to Los Angeles International Airport to make a shambles of the airport and the people present was sentenced to 22 years in prison. The judge meting out the sentence figured the terrorist deserved extra consideration for vowing to aid investigators.
Thank goodness for a “divided” three-judge panel, or more accurately, two judges of a three-judge panel in the 10th Circuit, and their decision to set aside the sentence saying it is too short after the terrorist stopped cooperating two years after he pledged to help investigators. Not only was the sentence set aside, but the original judge was removed from further consideration of the case and the sentence. To put it succinctly, the appeals court says the terrorist deserves a longer sentence.
