Quote Freely From The Article – Leave The Pseudonym Alone
Justice Clarence Thomas, who has served as the left’s whippin’“man” since before he was first sworn in on October 23, 1991, is no person to skirt the issues when he is given the opportunity to set straight what has traveled a crooked path. His latest record “straightening” came about today (2/4/10) as he spoke before a University of Florida Law School audience.
While not directly addressing the POTUS and his recent diatribe against the SCOTUS , there is little doubt that the Justice was speaking to the criticism heaped on the court by President Obama during his state of the union speech in January. In a report filed by the Associated Press and published online at WashingtonExaminer.com Justice Thomas had a great deal to say in addressing criticism or questions of the Supreme Court and other government branches, indicating each should should stay within the limits of fair comment, or:
run the risk in our society of undermining institutions that we need to preserve our liberties
The Justice went on to say that some criticisms of the court, “border on being irresponsible.” Indicating that he expects difference to come about because of perception from different areas of a question or issue, he nonetheless called for reason and respect:
“There are different approaches, because we start with different assumptions. Or we look at things
differently,” he said.
“And I think law school should encourage you that these differences are acceptable in our legal system.
And in the end, it is what strengthens and informs our legal system.”
