Final Tab on His Majesty’s Latest Family Vacation

And the following doesn’t count the crazy stuff he has done and will do since he has returned.  Crazy stuff costing we sap citizens  plenty.  That’s plenty that we don’t have.

Obama’s Hawaii vacation is over, now it’s time for taxpayers to pay massive tab

By Malia Zimmerman |

HONOLULU – President Barack Obama and his family just spent their Christmas and New Year’s holidays in Kailua. Now it’s time for taxpayers to pick up the tab.

While the Obamas and friends who accompany them pay for their own private vacation home rentals on or near Kailua Beach, taxpayers foot a multimillion dollar tab for everything from a stand-by ambulance to the fuel for Air Force One.

Local taxpayers pick up the bill for Honolulu Police Department escorts who guard Obama, first lady Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha around the clock. Figures just released by HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu show HPD spent $277,000 on overtime costs this year during the president’s 16-day vacation. That’s $16,000 less than in 2013, but $60,000 more than in 2012.

The Emergency Management Services department also dispatches an ambulance to be on call for the president, which annually costs the city about $15,890.

There’s much more in the rest of the article.  Please read on to find out how foolish we are and have been to allow presidents to believe they are, by and through their office, imperial members of these United States of America.

Thank you watchdog and Malia Zimmerman.

Sessions: Republicans on verge of breaking campaign pledges

From: National Review

That’s on amnesty, as we might suspect, given the house and senate leadership which is, and is to be.  It is sad when the only clue you or we might have on our congress’s  ability to keep a promise is mostly null and void.  Other reports have the dems and progressives laughing their ample tails off over the potential of Republicans not keeping their word.

Here’s what Session’s has to say:

Senator Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) suggested that House Republicans are on the verge of breaking their campaign promise to fight President Obama’s administrative amnesty, judging by the legislative text currently being circulated.

Sessions said that the proposed language “fails to meet [the] test” established by Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus, who promised earlier this year that the GOP would do everything possible to thwart Obama’s executive orders.

“The executive amnesty language is substantially weaker than the language the House adopted this summer, and does not reject the central tenets of the President’s plan: work permits, Social Security and Medicare to 5 million illegal immigrants — reducing wages, jobs and benefits for Americans,” Sessions said in the statement expressing his dissatisfaction with the results of a House Republican conference meeting today.

In the meeting, “the lawmakers began coalescing around a two-part plan that would allow a symbolic vote to show their frustration with President Obama’s executive action on immigration, before funding the government ahead of a Dec. 11 deadline,” according to the New York Times.

Hot Shots With A Hot Mic

Nothing really new here, but the bull butter is just piled higher.  I wonder if Meddy had his super-duper brain penetration device on while Obama was promising more flexibility after the coming election.  Of course, neither Medvedev, nor Putin are dummies, but they know not the wily ways of our brand of socialism … much less crooked Chicago politics.

Who’d Thunk It — Ever

Seal of the President of the United States

Well, to hear POTUS squeal like a pig in a gate about the repubs not wanting to raise the debt limit, you might just think that he has always favored the tactic, i.e raising the debt limit.

Apparently you’d be thinking and believing wrong if you bought into that belief.  More than a few magazine articles and blog post to an entirely different attitude or belief system on the part of our President just a few short years ago.  Information from the National Review Online contained in an article by Katrina Trinko, found here, points to the opposite.  But, that was then and this is on a different watch. What do we read now, or more precisely on January 3, 2011 about POTUS as a senator in 2006:

Here are Obama’s thoughts on the debt limit in 2006, when he voted against increasing the ceiling:

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

One might think POTUS sounded very conservative back then, but the conservatives have seen debt limit raises that they could vote for.  We won’t stray from the path we are on because we really wanted to think about who’d thunk it about our current president.

They Are Asking …..

President Barack Obama with Regina Benjamin, A...

They being some members of the mainstream media and in particular and their reporter Anna Pukas.  In the lead-in to her article, Ms. Pukas proffers:

INEFFECTUAL, invisible, unable to honour pledges and now blamed for letting Gaddafi off the hook. Why Obama’s gone from ‘Yes we can’ to ‘Er, maybe we shouldn’t’…

This doubt and the analysis to come in the article is not new to many, if any, US citizens, but coming from a foreign journalist, it seems our President’s idiosyncrasies and perceived short-comings in various areas of his job as POTUS are  arriving to the forefront.  They, the journalists now, to paraphrase words of the Christian Bible, ” … have ears to hear and eyes to see …” and it seems they are hearing and seeing what many have recognized far in advance of the opinions being put forth by the journalists come lately.

We should ask, “just how much does articulate, urbane and cosmopolitan count for when there is a world falling down around one’s ears?”  The answer is, it can’t count for much, because empty words are far from filling in any sense.  Were I to attempt to gauge, the angst  Ms. Pukas finds for herself in Obama  as a promise keeper as opposed to a promise maker,  I would use the word, FAIL.  And remember, there are millions of ordinary people that were not ever and will never be enamored of our President.

Ms. Pukas comments that Obama’s slogan was topped-off with self-belief.  I suppose confidence can say much about an individual, but in and of itself, confidence has no substance — no meat and no potatoes:

Obama’s campaign slogan was mesmerisingly simple and brimming with self-belief: “Yes we can.” His presidency, however, is turning out to be more about “no we won’t.” Even more worryingly, it seems to be very much about: “Maybe we can… do what, exactly?“ The world feels like a dangerous place when leaders are seen to lack certitude but the only thing President Obama seems decisive about is his indecision. What should the US do about Libya? What should the US do about the Middle East in general? What about the country’s crippling debts? What is the US going to do about Afghanistan, about Iran?

Ms. Puka’s slicing and dicing continues through several paragraphs and finally comes to a point where she seems to have put everything wrong about Obama and his administration on the top shelf for everyone to examine:

All of which means that it is starting to look as if Obama and the Democratic Party have but one aim in mind for the rest of this presidential term: to get elected for a second. That means not doing anything that might upset any number of special interest or niche groups, which in effect means not doing very much at all. So, not too many harsh but necessary measures to tackle the financial deficit; no clear direction on where America goes with Afghanistan, even though the war there is going nowhere except from bad to worse.

The Obama government can’t even give clear direction on whether the American people are in danger of exposure to nuclear fallout from Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami. The US Surgeon General Regina Benjamin advised San Francisco residents to stock up on radiation antidotes, prompting a run on potassium iodide pills, while the President said experts had assured him that any harmful radiation would have receded long before reaching the Western shores of the US.

Sad, very sad. The story is really about how silly and weak some American citizens have become.  Check for other links below and here is a link to the entire article by Ms. Pukas.

Pigford: Perhaps A Comprehensive List Of Investigative Articles

Quote Freely From The Article – Leave The Pseudonym Alone

I have, from time to time, posted articles regarding the Pigford settlements and some of the implications of the settlement processes seemingly gone mad or made that way to begin with.  The material we have quoted or referenced is extraordinary for two primary reasons:

  1. there are scarcely any reports from the “main-scream” media which impact to any degree on the fraud and real magnitude in dollars meted out with the settlements
  2. the reports, and there are a few, have been made available in the main by blogs

Perhaps your thoughts might run counter to mine and you feel this whole episode is nothing about which to be concerned.  Or, maybe you are incensed that the big media boys have rested on their holly since they are absent any “laurels.”  Whatever the case, maybe someone, somewhere and sometime, with a little authority will do the right thing and an in-depth investigation to be completed.

Meanwhile, if you have nothing else to cause you to be a little dizzy, perhaps a complete reading or partial review of the articles to be found here will spur you on after a fine first day of the New Year (Saturday) and on through the weekend.  And no, the moon is not intoxicated … just a little dizzy to join us!
