 The Edgewood Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Edgewood 2012 are presenting:
Thursday February 16 at 5:30 pm
at the Masonic Lodge
 Candidates running for Edgewood Mayor and Town Council positions will tell us what they see in the future for Edgewood, and how they plan to get us there.  The forum will be moderated by
Rory McLannahan, Editor of The Mountain View Telegraph, and Leota Harriman, Editor of The Independent. Admission is open to the entire community, and will be a can of food for the food pantry.

The COW Awards Committee invites you to attend the best potluck in the area 
 Friday February 3  at 6:30 pm
at the
 Edgewood Middle School Cafeteria .
The speaker will be Syd Masters! It’s worth the great evening to see who has been nominated (especially YOUR candidate).
Bring your favorite pot luck dish, and don’t forget to put your name on the bottom of the dish so that you can get it back!

Wildlife West Nature Park has received a grant from the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps for this season’s youth employment at the park.
The first orientation will be held on
March 10 at 10am
All interested youth aged between 16 and 25 please bring a resume and two references to the orientation.
Returning corps members can come prepared for orientation and ready to work that afternoon.

In the late 1700’s, many houses consisted of a large room with only one chair.  Commonly, a long wide board folded down from the wall, and was used for dining.  The “head of the household” always sat in the chair, while everyone ate sitting on the floor.
Occasionally a guest, usually a man, would be invited to sit in this chair during a meal.  To sit in the chair meant you were important and in charge.  They called the one sitting in the chair the “chair man.”
Today in business, we use the expression or title Chairman or Chairman of the Board.
PS – Thank heaven the rest of the board doesn’t have to sit on the ground. We’d have some pretty crabby boards…
