During Governor Susana Martinez’s campaign, one of her promises was to rescind or abolish, former Governor Bill Richardson’s silly sanctuary state edict.  Richardson’s executive order had decreed, king-like,  that law enforcement officers would not inquire into the immigration status of any person  arrested by a State law enforcement officer.  Now Ms. Martinez has removed Richardson’s executive order and replaced it with one of her own.

While some will say that the executive order issued by Governor Martinez does not go far enough, it does relieve the stigma of New Mexico’s sanctuary state status.  Her order is likely to enrage illegal alien proponents, but it will please citizens who followed the law when they entered the United States.  Now there is the matter of illegal alien driver’s license and her promise to see the law allowing such be repealed .  Let’s see if she can make our wish come true on that promise.
