We want to wish you a
Merry Christmas
from the Board and Director of
The Edgewood
Chamber of Commerce

     Edgewood Holiday Hunt n Glow

Was smaller than hoped, but still a great experience for those who participated.
Expect customers to come back who came running through your business for their answers…they now know where you are and what you offer.

Thanks to all who participated in the Hunt, Parade, and Glow.
Santa gave out stockings to many children who sat on his lap during the glow.
We have the bare bones of an Edgewood Holiday tradition.  Next year it will GROW..
and we were even promised a tree!
We were on Channel 7 TV on Friday and Saturday news…local papers, all over social media, and generally with the exception of some really nasty weather, we had a good event.
THANK YOU if you even told one person about it…and a Big THANK YOU if you participated in any way.

Winner of $1,000plus in prizes was
Ian and Christine Freemen.
A Big thanks to the 4 Balloons who
came out, and a special thanks to
the WELLS FARGO balloon, piloted by
Beth Wright, who managed to get the envelope up in spite of wind and blowing snow.  A huge accomplishment!
All 4 of the Balloon pilots,
Jerry Guziel, Martin Aide,
and Don Rose, who brought Santa to the event in his Basket along the parade route, were wonderful to work with, and did a yeoman’s job!
The Moriarty Edgewood School District was huge in helping our event.  The Float was so bright, it made it daylight around the float.   The Moriarty High School Marching Band and the Messengers choir did a beautiful job.  Many thanks to all!
Committee and helpers:
Linda and Rich Thomas, Robin and Pat Markley,
Cheryl and Vince Bonino,
Jerry  Guziel, Anne House, Traci  and the Edgewood Police Department,  Tracy from Edgewood Town Offices,  Dominic and Robin Prudencio, Kassi Aucker and Hadley Prudencio, Santa’s elves.

Edgewood Hunt-n-Glow on December 15, 2012

$1000 Prize Package Stuffs One Winner’s Stocking at Edgewood’s Holiday Scavenger Hunt

One lucky winner will win a $1000+ prize package at Edgewood’s inaugural annual “Hunt-n-Glow” on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Pick up your entry forms and treasure maps after 10 a.m. at the chamber booth located at the Edgewood Elementary School at Dinkle and State Road 344 in Edgewood. The grand prize will also be available for viewing at the booth.

Scavenger hunters will find clues by locating the “X” at each participating location at the school, and then will continue to locations on the map provided them.

“Hunters” will find clues and enjoy refreshments while enjoying Edgewood’s stores and restaurants. Completed entries must be submitted at the chamber booth by 4 pm, and the winner will be chosen. A single winner will get the grand prize made up of gifts from all of the participating stores, worth over $1000.

More than 2 dozen businesses in Edgewood and the East Mountain area, ranging from local artists and home based businesses to large stores like Walmart and Tractor Supply, are participating. Located just 20 minutes east of Albuquerque and 40 minutes south of Santa Fe, NM, small town Edgewood is becoming the retail center of the East Mountains and a destination for regional day trippers.

A light parade begins at 5 pm, with lit displays and balloons marching from the Walmart on State Road 344 North to the Soccer field. The light parade will include the Moriarty High School Marching Band, and Santa in a Hot Air Balloon Basket.

The Moriarty High School “Messengers” Choir is performing a holiday sing-a-long at theBalloon Glow at the Soccer field right after the parade, along with Santa in his chair welcoming the kids. Hot chocolate and other goodies will be sold by the Edgewood Food Pantry and the Edgewood Police Department to raise funds for the Edgewood Food Pantry.

This is the 1st year for this event. “Edgewood wanted an annual tradition to take place around the holidays, and, with the business, artists, and balloonists in the area we are building a free event for families and tourists to come by and spend the day in Edgewood.

We are coming together as a whole community to celebrate the holiday season and put Edgewood “on YOUR map” as a town that welcomes everybody to join us.” says Madeline Heitzman, the Executive Director of The Edgewood Chamber of Commerce who is working with the Town of Edgewood to build this event.
